With the Nvidia Lovelace launch seemingly imminent, there was a much buzz around the vine of technology about what these high-end cards have to offer, especially the high-end enthusiast cards. But the Nvidia RTX 4060 wasn’t entirely forgotten in the mix.
And while it’s not enough to quench our thirst for new information, we’ve had a taste of what to expect when the sequel to one of the best graphics cards released in recent years is announced.
With that said, Nvidia has literally revealed nothing about the RTX 4060 at this point, so currently all we really have are rumors or conjecture based on our own expert analysis and previously known facts. We are definitely following the news closely, especially anything that takes place during the Nvidia GTC 2022 event on September 20, 2022.
So what do we know about Nvidia’s next-gen “budget” graphics card, how do we think it compares to AMD’s RDNA 3, and when do we think we’ll see it eventually? Here’s everything we’ve heard and what we expect to see in the coming months.
Nvidia RTX 4060: Get straight to the point
- What is it? One of Nvidia’s upcoming graphics cards
- When it will be available? May be released in January 2023
- What will it cost? Given inflation, probably slightly higher than the RTX 3060
Nvidia RTX 4060: release date
According to the rumor, most of the 4000 series should be released in 2023, specifically January 2023with much speculation that only one of the GPUs will be released this year, which is likely to be the flagship Nvidia RTX 4090.
In fact, most likely the Nvidia RTX 4060 will be the last model to be released in 2023, right behind the 4080 and 4070 models. According to the well-known hardware leaker Greymon55the reason for the general delay for most Lovelace cards is due to overstocking of current generation RTX 3000 series graphics cards that retailers need to burn first, something that seems more likely with all sales and generally lower MSRP on these cards.
Nvidia RTX 4060: Price
Unlike its release window, there were no actual rumors or reports about the GeForce RTX 4060’s MSRP.
Though likely thanks to the current inflation crisis hitting several regions including the US, the RTX 4060 could be priced a little higher than the RTX 3060, which would be unfortunate.

Nvidia RTX 4060: Specifications
No rumors or leaks surrounding the GeForce RTX 4060 have suggested exactly what the specs could be, but it is expected to be more demanding than the RTX 3070.
Thanks to some rumors, the RTX 4060 reportedly uses a lot more power than the GeForce RTX 3070, which already has a 220W TGP. And when you look at the 50W increase between 2060 and 3060, we get a clearer picture of what kind of power potential we could see with the 4060.
This also implies that the specs are set to be much higher if this GPU is commanding that much power in the first place.
