If you’re in the market for a Samsung Galaxy S22 but it’s not sold in any of the current color options, Samsung may soon have an option for you as it looks like a lavender purple hue could be coming soon.
This is according to trusted leaker @UniverseIce (opens in new tab) who posted an image of what appears to be purple wallpaper on a Samsung phone, along with the comment that this shade is coming.
Adding more credibility to the claim, Roland Quandt (opens in new tab) “WinFuture writer and another leaker with a good track record,” he replied in agreement, adding that the color will be called ‘Bora Purple’, matching a hue that is also rumored for the Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro.

It’s unclear whether this shade is for the Samsung Galaxy S22 itself or the Galaxy S22 Plus, the Galaxy S22 Ultra or some combination, but there is some evidence that it could be coming to the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra or various models in the lineup. S22.
This theory is based on an advertisement discovered by @sondesix (opens in new tab), which appears to show a Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra with multiple colored lights coming out of it. Most of them match the existing Ultra shades, but there’s a purple color included that doesn’t.
The announcement also specifically says that new colors are coming to the Galaxy S22 series, which suggests that there may be more than one new color, and that new colors may be coming to more than one model of the Galaxy S22 series. It even includes a date of July 15th, so that’s when the new colors are announced.
I’m seeing some signs that there will be a Galaxy S22 Ultra in Lavender color arriving here soon. I thought it was for illustrative purposes only, but the teaser for my country suggested the color Lavender, in addition to the exclusive Sky Blue, Graphite, and red models. pic.twitter.com/ZYOuedsmhZJuly 7, 2022
That said, even though these leaks are all accurate, it’s worth noting that any new colors may not be released in all regions, so it remains to be seen where Bora Purple and any other new shades will be offered.
Review: The S22 line doesn’t really need new colors, but we’re going to take them anyway
Some phones are clamoring for more color choices. The OnePlus 10 Pro, for example, while available in interesting hues, is widely available in just two color options. And then there are the phones that cling to common – and arguably dull – colors like black and white.
But the Samsung Galaxy S22 range is available in a relatively wide selection of colors, including the expected boring ones and some more interesting shades (‘Violet’ already among them), as our Samsung Galaxy S22 color guide shows.
So adding a Bora Purple shade – or any other new color – doesn’t seem all that vital. Still, we’re happy to see it, especially as it looks like it could be a pretty catchy and interesting shade.
Between the wide range of colors offered on these phones and the Galaxy Z Flip 3’s customizable color combinations, it’s clear that Samsung is keen to offer a lot of variety in its phones, and that’s always good to see.
A wide color gamut doesn’t affect a phone’s position on our list of the best smartphones, but it can make it more appealing to buyers if there’s a shade they really like.
